Bahamian Time
We are just 6 days into our new locale of the Grand Bahama. It has been fun filled as well as offered us with many new lessons so far.
Here is the view from our beach.

There is no doubt that the speed of life here is slower. Away from the tourist areas and further into the community, we have found folks to be very friendly and curious. It seems that visiting actually is what makes things move so slow. Visiting at the grocery store, at the gas station, during your morning walks. No matter where you turn, you will find people visiting with each other. So, I guess if things are going to move slowly, you might just as well enjoy the company around you!
We've managed to have a few adventures this week. So far, we've done one scuba dive that surprised us with about forty 6-8 foot reef sharks when we first jumped into the ocean with our scuba gear. Of course this surprise kept our heart rates going for a bit until we realized the sharks really weren't interested in us one bit. This was our view!
Dan even got to pet, yes literally pet, a Nurse shark. We've learned that this species of shark is considered the couch potato of the sea and is incredibly docile. Dan said their skin felt like very coarse sandpaper.
We've also visited the Lucayan National park, a pretty place with some easy to walk trails and a peek into a cool cave system where thousands of bats nest. Today we went to snorkel at Deadman's Reef out at Paradise Cove. We spotted tons of tropical fish and also had the amazing experience of watching both Green and Hawksbill turtles grazing on the sea grass. Here is a pic of the Green turtle.
Not sure what tomorrow will bring, but we have learned that this is a holiday weekend in the Bahamas. Friday is their equivalent of Labor day with Sunday and Monday being religious celebrations called Whit Sunday and Whit Monday. Wishing you all a great weekend!
Those pictures are incredible! Glad your trip is off to an amazing start!
